The Great Dictionary of the Yiddish Language tells the tragi-comic story of Yiddish linguist Yudel Mark’s unfinished effort to create a comprehensive Yiddish dictionary. With a haunting score by Pulitzer Prize finalist Alex Weiser (Composers & the Voice Cycle 9) and a probing libretto by Ben Kaplan, The Great Dictionary invites audiences to contemplate the surprisingly grand ambition of Yiddish culture after its decimation during the Holocaust and to consider the power of language to transform and shape us.

Two performances on Saturday May 4th, 2pm & 5pm at The Great Room (138 South Oxford Street, Brooklyn, NY).
