About Lucy Wenger, piano
Lucy Wenger grew up in Tucson, Arizona, where she discovered her love for piano at an early age, initially playing by ear and composing short pieces. Though reluctant at first, she eventually learned to read music, setting the foundation for a lifelong musical journey.
Lucy earned her undergraduate degree at Mills College in Oakland, California, followed by a Master's in Piano Performance from the University of Oregon in Eugene. Her studies continued internationally with advanced training and performances in England, France, and Canada. Among her most influential teachers were Edna Church, Bernhard Abramowitsch, and Frank Mannheimer.
Her teaching career spans institutions such as the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as well as private instruction. A versatile performer, Lucy has given solo recitals, played chamber music, and worked as an accompanist. Her recordings are featured on the Innova label, and her performances have been aired on KING FM and NPR.
Lucy currently resides in Seattle, close to her three sons and grandchildren.
