About Hanami Froom, violin
Violinist Hanami Froom, 18, is from Portland, Oregon. She has been playing the violin since she was two years old, and has been a member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic since she was seven. She currently studies with Carol Sindell, a prominent Portland-based violinist and teacher. Hanami appeared as a guest soloist with the Oregon Symphony in 2020. She made her solo debut with an orchestra at the age of six and since then, has soloed with the MetroArts Orchestra in 2016 and 2018, the Jewish Community Orchestra in 2016, the Portland Youth Philharmonic Conservatory Orchestra in 2018 and 2019, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in 2021 as a winner of their competitions. She is also a winner of the International Great Composer Competition. Hanami placed first prize for the Music Teacher National Association’s Oregon State and Northwest Division in 2018, 2019, and 2020, and was awarded in its national competition. In April 2021, she was invited by the Portland Chamber Orchestra and performed Tomas Vitali, Johann Sebastian Bach, Fritz Kreisler, Christian Sinding, and Jean Sibelius for the spring concert series.
About David Hattner, conductor
A talented clarinetist, David Hattner regularly performs in live radio broadcast on All Classical Portland, and has served as principal clarinet with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Cascade Music Festival Orchestra in Bend, New Jersey Opera Theater, and Key West Symphony Orchestra. Hattner is an honors graduate of Northwestern University, and was a Conducting Fellow at the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen for three summers.

(The Chicago Tribune) Hattner's high musical intelligence and phenomenal technique uniquely combine with a warm and cooperative disposition, allowing for an ease of execution which imbues confidence and expands possibilities. Hattner is the Portland Youth Philharmonic’s fifth Musical Director in its distinguished 96-year history, and the first to be born in the United States. Known for his encyclopedic knowledge of American repertoire, Hattner's programming is relevant, thoughtful, and "especially attractive." (The Chicago Tribune) Hattner’s recent seasons included his conducting debuts with the Phoenix Symphony, Olympia Symphony, Baton Rouge Symphony, and Chamber Music Northwest as well as appearances with the Oregon Symphony and the Musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony. Additional guest appearances include the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Interlochen Philharmonic, Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, International Contemporary Ensemble, Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Sospeso, Kansas City Symphony, Oregon Mozart Players, and Massapequa Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
