WMP Bilingual Concerts: Fairy tale set to music (in English)
Free
- Ulysses James, conductor
WMPA offers a bilingual family concert, featuring an adorable tale set to music, narrated in English at 4pm, and again in Spanish at 5pm. Nearly 20 WMP musicians will perform the delightful music of Benedikt Brydern in The Town Musicians. This is a happy story originally by the Brothers Grimm.
Treat the kids to a pre-supper story time with upbeat classical music and a happy tale, or dreamily return to your childhood. Music Director Emeritus and Alexandria Living Legend Ul James conducts. Patricia Washington narrates the English story at 4pm, while Sohamy Marquina narrates Los Músicos del Pueblo in Spanish at 5pm. Come for one or stay for both!
Children can enjoy an "instrument petting zoo" after each performance.
Location: Saturday, November 16, at 4pm and 5pm in West End, Alexandria at the new Patrick Henry Recreation Center's multi-purpose activity room.
Free, no tickets. We thank the City of Alexandria City of Office of the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts in part for their support, as well as the partnership with Rosas Blancas in the promotion of these Spanish-language concert offerings for children.
