Composer Steven Stucky and librettist Jeremy Denk's The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts), a whimsically clever adaptation of the late pianist Charles Rosen's book of the same name, imagines Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, and Ludwig van Beethoven returning to a present-day Earth from Heaven to find out what happened to classical music. Peabody Opera Theatre and the Peabody Symphony Orchestra perform The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts) on a bill with Maurice Ravel's 1925 one-act L'enfant et les sortilèges.
