Philadelphia's BalletX returns after its sold-out 2019 Kennedy Center debut at DEMO by Damian Woetzel. The acclaimed company presents:

Jodie Gates’ Beautiful Once, a work created in honor of community, inclusion, and divine resilience set to recorded music by Ryan Lott of Son Lux.

Takehiro Ueyama's Heroes, which honors the citizens who played a role in Japan's recovery after World War II and features music by Kato Hideki and John Adams' The Chairman Dances performed live

Matthew Neenan's Mapping Out a Sky, "a formal investigation of time and space and something altogether more jazzy" (The New York Times), set to live piano arrangements of Stephen Sondheim classics

Justin Peck's Become a Mountain, an inspired celebration of dance featuring Baltimore-native composer and musician Dan Deacon performing live alongside members of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra

Runs Dec. 4-7.

About Dan Deacon

Dan Deacon is a Baltimore-based recording artist and performer renowned for his five studio albums of innovative electronic music, his live performances in both contemporary and classical settings, and his extensive body of work in film scores.

Deacon has premiered compositions at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and collaborated with artists and institutions including Kronos Quartet, Sō Percussion, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the LA Philharmonic, and Justin Peck with the New York City Ballet. Deacon has also toured internationally with popular recording artists including Arcade Fire, Miley Cyrus, Future Islands, and The Flaming Lips. His albums Spiderman of the Rings and Bromst were both named Best New Music by Pitchfork, and his album Gliss Riffer received 4-star reviews from outlets such as AllMusic and The Guardian. He released his fifth studio album Mystic Familiar, featuring "Become A Mountain" and "Fell Into the Ocean," in January 2020.
