Famous for his chamber works, Italian oboe virtuoso and composer Giuseppe Sammartini was one of the leading Baroque composers of instrumental music in the 18th Century. His younger brother Giovanni Battista Sammartini, also an oboist and performed along with Giuseppe in major European orchestras, was a leading figure in the development of the Classical style who influenced the compositional style of such composers as J.C. Bach, Boccherini, and Gluck. In this concert, Concentus will perform a recorder sonata, cello sonata, and two trio sonatas by the "Sammartini brothers."
