This yearly tradition celebrates the holiday season with choral music including Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata with a double brass choir. We will also present choral works by Franz Biebl, Margaret Burke, Sarah MacDonald, and John Rutter. Join us in the glow of the candlelight to revel in music, beauty, and the joy of Christmas.
About First & Franklin Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir, comprised of dedicated volunteer and professional singers, rehearses each Thursday from 7pm-9pm, and sings in worship September through May.
Weekly rehearsals are rich in both focused musical preparation and warm fellowship. The choir prepares to lead the congregation in the energetic singing of hymns, responses and other service music, in addition to building upon its large repertoire of anthems, selected to illuminate the message of each service of worship. The anthems sung by the Sanctuary Choir represent many traditions, cultures, languages and styles. Church member and choir volunteer, Randy Veale, reflects,
"I joined the Sanctuary Choir ten years ago, and it is the first choir in my history of singing that I’ve learned to sing in other languages – a challenge I enjoy!"
The Sanctuary Choir also presents the annual Candlelight Choral Concert in December, an event featuring larger choral works with orchestra or brass, audience singing, and notable guest musicians.
