Moments after becoming the youngest musician to ever win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Yunchan Lim shared that the next piece he intended to learn for performance was J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations. Reporters—who had just witnessed the eagerly ambitious artist perform Liszt's Transcendental Etudes in the competition, among other virtuoso achievements—couldn't help but laugh in amazement. Now, just a year after his 2024 Carnegie Hall debut, the global superstar returns to perform Bach's crowning keyboard achievement.

About Yunchan Lim, piano

Since becoming the youngest person to ever win Gold at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition
—in 2022, when he was 18 years old—Yunchan Lim has ascended to international stardom. His audacious performance of Liszt's Transcendental Etudes and appearance with Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 delivered the defining moment of competition. The following year Lim made successful orchestral debuts with the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic, as well as the Chicago, Lucerne, KBS, and Tokyo symphony orchestras, among others, and recital debuts at London's Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Tokyo's Suntory Hall, and the Seoul Arts Center.
