Juan Bautista Cabanilles — Selected works
Orlando Gibbons — Second Service
Travel back in time to Elizabethan England with The Emmanuel Choir and Viol Consort during this traditional service of Choral Evensong. The viol (or, viola da gamba) was a very popular instrument in the 16th and 17th Centuries; this liturgy will feature richly stunning music for choir and viols, including Orlando Gibbons' sublime Second Service. Choral Evensong is preceded at 3:30pm by an organ recital featuring music of William Byrd and Juan Cabanilles, performed by concert organist Adam Detzner.
