The King of Instruments Winter Organ Series: Jason Roberts
$22 ($17 senior/student; ages 12-18 free)
- Jason Roberts, organ
Organist Jason Roberts, Director of Music at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in New York City, performs on Riverside's famed Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ as part of the annual King of Instruments Winter Organ Series. Mr. Roberts will accompany the 1925 silent comedy film The Gold Rush, starring Charlie Chaplin.
About the Film: Written, produced, directed by, and starring Charlie Chaplin, the The Gold Rush represents the apotheosis of the silent film era. Shoelaces become spaghetti and dinner rolls become dance shoes in this classic 1925 silent comedy, which chronicles the hilarious adventure of a young prospector who heads to the Klondike to join the 1890s gold rush. A delightful blend of adventure, romance, and slapstick comedy, The Gold Rush encapsulates the height of Chaplin's creative strengths and popularity as filmmaker and star.
This concert will be preceded by a Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Carillon recital at 6:30pm.
This concert will also be livestreamed on our YouTube channel, free of charge.
