Astor Piazzolla — Selected works

The Pan American Symphony Orchestra (PASO), nominated for a Latin Grammy award for best tango album, presents a concert of nuevo tango by the famous Argentine tango composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla.

This show also includes other nuevo tango composers, some of Piazzolla's contemporaries following in his footsteps, and other young composers who continue his legacy today.

Joining PASO from New York City is the Latin Grammy award-winning tango ensemble, the Pedro Giraudo Trio. Maestro Sergio Alessandro Buslje will bring you an evening of tango at its best, with virtuosic musicianship, beautiful harmonies, and exciting rhythms. This is a new tango with old tango sensibilities.

About Pedro Giraudo Tango Trio

After two decades performing with the most important interpreters of tango in the United States, Pedro Giraudo debuted his own Tango Trio in July 2015 at Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing in July 2015. The Pedro Giraudo Tango Trio features some of the finest tango musicians of today to interpret tangos ranging from the great traditional, classic tangos, to more modern tangos and original compositions. Among the many noteworthy events in his career, in 2014 Pedro recorded bass on Ruben Blades' CD Tangos, which won two Grammy Awards. He has also been the musical director of Mariela Franganillo Company's Tango Connection and Tango Recuerdo, and performed with U.S.'s most prominent tango ensembles including Pablo Ziegler (Piazzolla's pianist), Luis Bravo's Forever Tango, Hector Del Curto Quintet, Fernando Otero's X-Tango and Daniel Binelli's Tango Metropolis.
