The UMBC Guitar Fest is an exciting day of immersion into the diverse world of guitar playing! This free event is open to all guitar players 8th grade and up, friends, family, and colleagues. Participate in workshops and masterclasses, receive expert feedback and a certificate from our specialized faculty, experience captivating and inspiring guitar performances, and connect with the guitar community enjoying food, music, and all things guitar!
Schedule:
9:30am – Arrival and Registration
10am – Opening Performance: Felipe Garibaldi and the UMBC Guitar Collective
10:30am – Adjudications
12pm – Selected Workshops:
•Workshop I: Latin Rhythms and the Classical Guitar w/Andrés Palacios
•Workshop II: Playing Smarter, Not Harder: Proprioception in Guitar Technique w/ Dr. Zachary Grim
1pm – Lunch
1:30pm – Tour of the Music Department Facilities
2pm – Classical Guitar Masterclass w/ Felipe Garibaldi
3:10pm – Workshop III: The Building Blocks of Masterful Guitar Improvisation w/ Tom Lagana
4pm – Pizza and Open Mic
5pm – Closing Concert: Guitar Fusions—w/ Felipe Garibaldi featuring guests Tom Lagana and Andrés Palacios
