The Riverside Orchestra: Mahler & Dvořák
$28.52
- Karen Foster, soprano
At the Riverside Orchestra's next concert on March 14th, Dvořák's fiery, youthful First Symphony meets Mahler's intimate and profound Rückert-Lieder—a compelling combination! Most people know Dvořák's "New World" Symphony, which we performed last season, but his First Symphony in C minor is a hidden gem! Full of passion, Beethovenian drama, and soaring melodies, this is a chance to hear a piece that Dvořák himself never got to experience in concert. Mahler's Rückert-Lieder are some of the most beautifully introspective and emotional songs in the orchestral repertoire. With texts by poet Friedrich Rückert, these songs explore love, solitude, and inner peace.
We're thrilled to welcome acclaimed Soprano Karen Foster as our soloist, following her performances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the Dallas Symphony, both under the baton of Maestro Jaap von Zweden, former Music Director of the New York Philharmonic. One opera critic recently described her as "powerful... [with] a voice filled with nuance."
Reception: Your ticket includes our post-concert pizza party held in the cafeteria, where you can mingle with our community of music makers and music lovers till 10pm.
