- James Bishop-Edwards, Romantic & terz guitars
- Hideki Yamaya, Romantic guitar & Lombard mandolin
For the last concerts of the 2024-25 season, Musica Maestrale presents a program of charming and rarely-heard chamber music for two guitars, and mandolin and guitar, mostly from the early 19th-century (and some from late 18th). Our highly-distinguished guest artist, James Bishop Edwards from Eugene, will play Romantic guitar and terz guitar (a smaller-sized guitar tuned to G), and MM artistic director Hideki Yamaya will play Romantic guitar and Lombard mandolin (a single-strung mandolin tuned in fourths like a guitar). All of the instruments performed are originals from the era. This is a rare opportunity to hear this music as it was intended—in an intimate setting, on warmer-voiced instruments!
