Tacoma Music Collaborative String Orchestra Festival

The Concerto Festival is Tacoma Music Collaborative's (TMC) flagship event. Each spring, we bring together student musicians and a full ensemble for a concert series featuring the finest pedagogical repertoire and full concerto movements. Each student rehearses and performs with an orchestra comprised of professional and collegiate musicians. The atmosphere is designed to support each student and ensure they have an excellent experience performing their work in front of family, colleagues, and community members in the audience. 

In 2025, TMC is hosting two festival events: one featuring works accompanied by a string orchestra (April 5), and one for works utilizing a full symphony orchestra (May 17).

Concerts are free for attendees and open to all members of the community. There is a suggested donation at the door to help support access to the arts for all musicians.

About Tacoma Music Collaborative (formerly Orchestral Recital Series of Tacoma)

Tacoma Music Collaborative (TMC) was founded over 29 years ago by Paul Twedt, the former Executive Director of the organization. He had a desire to see students of any age have the opportunity to perform with professional musicians.

TMC provides music students of all levels and ages the opportunity to perform as a soloist with a string ensemble, chamber orchestra, or symphonic orchestra. These performances are presented on a non-competitive basis. This means that every student can perform with others in a way that works for their level of repertoire. For some students, this is their only opportunity to play with professional collaborative musicians. Beginners, experts, adults, and children are all welcome to register!

TMC additionally provides and sponsors music activities in Tacoma such as private music instruction scholarships, in-school coaching sessions, and masterclass series with leaders in the Pacific Northwest music scene.
