Jiyoung Ko — boiling/blooming (for amplified flute, clarinet, trombone, piano, percussion, violin, & cello)
Arman Gushchyan — Echoes to Violet (for flutes, bass clarinet, violin, cello, percussion, piano, & live electronics; U.S. premiere)
Peter S. Shin — soshi so$$$hi (for pre-recorded voice & percussion)
Aria Gittelson-Zicarelli — if not numbers (new 2-instrument arr.)
Taylor Joshua Rankin — Snow Leopard (for string quartet & 2 synthesizers)
Bill Alves — Tinte la clochette (for soprano & stereo playback)
Matthew Brown — SYNAPSIS (for amplified SSATBB sextet, vocoder, synth, & electronics)
A Snow Leopard undulates through canons and counterpoint as shimmering synthetic sounds provide a gossamer glow to the string quartet in a tangled, rich journey imagined by composer Taylor Joshua Rankin leading off the electroacoustic program. In boiling/blooming a community perseveres, blossoming as musical scenes come in and out of focus helped by amplified flute and a raft of instruments in this provocative work by Jiyoung Ko. K-Pop meets John Cage in soshi so$$$hi, for two percussion and voice, a palette of infinite sounds by Peter S. Shin. More works by Matthew Brown, Bill Alves, Raphael Radna, Arman Gushchyan, and Aria Gittelson. Program collaborators include People Inside Electronics, and the brilliant Brightwork Ensemble.
