About The Stillwater Choir (MN)
Stillwater, MN, located on the scenic St. Croix river, is often referred to as the birthplace of Minnesota. Stillwater High School, with a current student population of approximately 2500 students grades 9-12, has a long tradition of musical excellence. The Stillwater Choir, the premier SATB ensemble, has had only 3 directors in the past 62 years. The choir's current director, Angela Mitchell taught with Erik Christiansen for 19 years before taking the lead role in the program in fall of 2016. The high school program currently includes six curricular and three co-curricular ensembles. The Stillwater Choir has been a featured ensemble at the Dorian, Concordia, and St. Olaf Festivals, as well as Minnesota and North Central ACDA events. In addition to work with individual clinicians, they have participated in workshops with Chanticleer, the King Singers, the Minnesota Opera, and The Rose Ensemble. In the fall of 2017, the choir was invited as a featured performer for NPR's From the Top with Christopher O'Reilly.
