Program Notes
Vaughan Williams creates a sense of drama with just voice and violin, in this song-cycle based on the poems of A.E. Housman.

Hindemith built his music on classical ideals using a number of forms like theme and variations, but uses modern harmonic techniques to look backward and forward at the same time.

The virtuosic demands on the violist have made Enescu's Konzertstück a staple in the repertoire; it shows off all the talents of the musician.

Although not the first composition by Beethoven, the Piano Trio was the first that he felt would become profitable. At the time, the pianoforte was relatively new and music composed for it was wildly popular.
