Dmitri Shostakovich — Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Op. 107 ("III. Cadenza – Attacca" & "IV. Allegro con moto")
Sergei Rachmaninoff — Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor, Op. 1 ("II. Andante" & "III. Allegro vivace")
Sergei Rachmaninoff — Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18 ("I. Moderato")
Sergei Rachmaninoff — Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30 (" I. Allegro ma non tanto")
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky — Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23 ("I. Andante non troppo-molto maestoso")
The culmination of an intensive annual competition of some 150 original entrants, six Concerto Division Winners of the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival Association (SYAMFA) will perform concerti by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Bartók, and Shostakovich in a stellar event accompanied by Philharmonia Northwest, conducted by Julia Tai. Audience members should prepare to be astonished by the adult level performances they will hear!
The concert is a music event of the highest caliber and should not be missed by any classical music lover. Division winners have gone on to study at The Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory and other prestigious schools.
