About Minjung Lee, piano

Pianist Min Jung Lee graduated from Seoul National University. She earned her master's degree from Indiana University and her doctorate from Yale University. She gave her debut recital after winning first prize in the Chun-Choo National Piano Competition.

During her years in the United States she won second prize at the Performers of Connecticut Young Artists Competition, the Yale School of Music Alumni Association Prize, and the Charles S. Miller Prize. She performed frequently across the country: in Connecticut, New York, Chicago, Indiana, Virginia, and San Francisco.

After returning to Korea she continued her appearances as a soloist and chamber musician in numerous concert halls, and on live broadcast for KBS-FM. Lee maintains an active international performing career in her native Korea as well as in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, and Poland. She has recorded for the KBS Korean Musicians in the 21st Century CD series, and she has performed with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony, Korean Symphony, Yale Symphony, and the Madri Chamber Orchestra in Seoul.

Currently she is a member of the Soma Trio formed with fellow Yale Alumni in Korea. The trio has been awarded the Ye-Eum Prize, winning national acclaim. The trio's recording, 'Reminiscence', was released by Sony/BMG. She is also a member of the Korea Festival Ensemble. Starting in 2004, Lee was on the faculty of Konkuk University. In 2017, she joined the faculty of Seoul National University.
