Seattle Pro Musica: The Glimmer
Online: Free | In person: $28-$38 ($21 senior/young adult; free for students with ID)
Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate is a classical composer, citizen of the Chickasaw Nation in Oklahoma, and is dedicated to the development of American Indian classical composition. He has been a guest composer for San Francisco Symphony and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and his works are performed by major orchestras and choral ensembles throughout the country. His music has also been featured on the HBO series Westworld. For our commissioned work, Jerod is setting the poem The Glimmer by Washington state poet laureate Rena Priest.
"Tate's connection to nature and the human experience was quite apparent in this piece… rarer still is his ability to effectively infuse classical music with American Indian nationalism." Washington Post
Pre-concert conversation at 7pm.
2022-23 season performances will also be livestreamed for free; donations will be gratefully accepted.
Attending in person: Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required at the door for all Seattle Pro Musica events this season. Additionally, audience members will be expected to remain masked at all times while indoors.
