Named for the Greek goddess of memory, this NSO co-commission tells the story of souls who dared drink from the river Lethe in Hades in their quest for eternal life.

Extraordinary soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha makes her NSO debut in Barber's dreamy, nostalgic impression of nighttime in Knoxville. Visionary maestro David Robertson concludes the program with West Side Story's most memorable music—from shouts of "Mambo!" to the wistful final chords of "Somewhere."
