Note: Due to changes in artist availability for the originally scheduled Bernstein Songfest concert, this program has been revised to feature three works on the theme of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

It’s an evening of star-crossed love when conductor Marin Alsop joins the Seattle Symphony for a fully orchestral program featuring works all inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, with its pop-culture prevalent love theme, Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story (his jaunty take on the tragic tale is set in 1950s-era New York City), and Prokofiev’s Suite from Romeo and Juliet, a ballet that originally clocked in at well over two hours long.

Pre-concert Talk presented one hour prior to each performance. Free with ticket purchase.
