Eli Schille-Hudson's program brings out the extreme stylistic versatility of the classical guitar, encompassing everything from the high baroque to stylized flamenco and new music: no two selections are exactly alike!
Schille-Hudson juxtaposes war horses of the European classical canon (Bach's Cello Suite No. 1, and Manuel de Falla's Suite Popular Española with Grant Donnellan, violin) with lesser-known gems from Latin America (studies by Brazilian Heitor Villa Lobos and Cuban Leo Brouwer) and North America (Michael Reardon's Vesta and Pulse No. 1). The program concludes with Bellingham-homegrown music: Schille-Hudson's own Introduction and Samba, and David Feingold's evening portrait of our city, The Boardwalk.

About Eli Schille-Hudson, guitar
About Grant Donnellan, violin
Violinist Grant Donnellan holds a Master of Music degree and Performance Certificate from Yale School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Oberlin Conservatory. His principal teachers include Sydney Harth, Eric Friedmann, Roland and Almita Vamos, and the Tokyo String Quartet. While at Yale he received the Ellen Battell-Stoeckel Chamber Music Excellence Award and was a member of the Irving S. Gillmore Scholarship Piano Trio. He has performed with numerous symphony orchestras, including the American Sinfonietta. Donnellan has been a guest artist at the Olympic Music Festival, the Governor's Recital Series, Bellingham Festival of Music, Wintergreen Music Festival, Cascadia Spring Music Festival, the Boulder Bach Society and the Holzhausen Music Festival in Germany. He has performed concertos with the Whatcom Symphony, Northwest Sinfonietta and the Western Washington University Symphony Orchestra. He teaches violin and coaches chamber music at Western and co-directs the summer Chamber Music Festival.
