Note: This performance is presented in Gallery 116 in the museum's annex and will be one hour in length without intermission. Funding for this commission and performance has been generously provided by the Sachiko Kuno Foundation.

This program will be presented twice, at 2:30pm and 6:30pm.

Rescheduled from the 2021/22 season, we present an immersive, in-gallery performance by pianist Conrad Tao and cellist Jay Campbell. The duo perform the Washington, DC-debut of a new work by composer Catherine Lamb, The Additive Arrow, co-commissioned by The Phillips Collection.

Lamb's new work for midi-keyboard and cello is a meditative exploration of the space between instruments, ears, and open space, and is inspired by the relationship between form, shape, and structure in the visual arts and music. The Additive Arrow takes direct inspiration from the art and ideas of Paul Klee, a visual artist and thinker whose work is central to the Phillips's permanent collection. Tao and Campbell perform Lamb's new work alongside Sergei Rachmaninoff's sumptuous Sonata in G minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19.

This event will be broadcast live on Sunday, April 8 at 2:30pm Eastern and 6:30pm Eastern. To reserve a ticket, follow the link above to register. All registered ticket holders will receive a link directing them to a livestream webpage where the performance can be accessed. Ticket holders will be able to watch this performance "On Demand" for 48 hours following the broadcast time.
