\World-renowned pianist and prolific classical composer Hwaen Ch'uqi is an Inca Indian and a native of Perú. He has performed throughout the United States, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Russia, Taiwan, Japan, and Perú, at such venues as Seiji Ozawa Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, and Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia. A blind pianist, he performs completely from memory. "This is true talent, a genuine diamond that you so rarely see." – St. Petersburg Times.

Mr. Ch'uqi will be joined by preeminent Northwest musicians Brandon Vance (violin), Pamela Liu (viola), Erika Pierson (cello) and Anna Doak (double bass). This exciting program will feature the world premiere of Hwaen Ch'uqi's Quintet No.1 for Piano and Strings and the beloved "Trout" Quintet by Franz Schubert. You may recall last year Mr. Ch'uqi presented the world premiere of his lyrical piece Elegie-Berceuse at Cascadia. He was so pleased with our museum setting and your enthusiastic response that he has chosen to honor us again this year with the premiere of this quintet, his latest major work!

Come enjoy these monthly concerts in our intimate gallery setting surrounded by beautiful art from the Northwest – close-up and personal, as chamber music was originally meant to be experienced.

The concerts are about one-hour in length at 6pm, leaving you time to dine out after. Your concert ticket includes admission to all the museum galleries, so make sure you come early to see our current exhibits!

Seating is limited and these concerts often sell-out, so please we suggest reserving your seats well in advance.
