The Trio Sonata, typically made up of two melody instruments and continuo, originated in the early 17th Century and became a favored chamber ensemble combination throughout the Baroque period, not least in the German tradition. In this program, Musicivic Baroque highlights the German trio sonata repertoire for violin, viola da gamba, and continuo including works by Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Heinichen, and Telemann.
