Seattle Recorder Society: Sarah Jeffery Solo Concert

The Seattle Recorder Society is overjoyed to host Sarah Jeffery for a truly unique experience. Sarah is in Seattle for one evening only and will offer two separate playing sessions, one for kids and one for adults, in addition to giving a solo concert presentation.

Schedule:
5pm-6pm Ensemble playing targeted for YOUTH who have played the recorder for at least 2 years, Sarah will work on two pieces for SATB recorders: The (Drunken) Wellerman and Blue Suede Shoes. $10 or pay as able, which includes admission to the 6:30pm solo presentation.
6:30pm-7:15pm Solo presentation by Sarah in the upstairs sanctuary.
7:30pm-8:45pm Ensemble playing targeted for players of all ages with confident recorder skills. Bear Heart by Silvia Corinna Rosen and The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell. $20, which includes admission to the 6:30 solo presentation.
About Sarah Jeffery, recorder
Sarah Jeffery is one of the world’s foremost promoters of the recorder, and a passionate champion of contemporary music. She has commissioned and premiered dozens of contemporary works and is regularly found performing on stages and festivals all over the globe. Off-stage, she is recognized as an expert on the instrument, appearing on the BBC, as well as being a regular feature on radio and television. For her efforts, she has received praise for "standing out from the established repertoire" and "fresh, surprising, and explosive" performances from Dutch NRC newspaper, and "the height of sonic and soundtrack cool, out there at the edges of compositional innovation and performatice possiblity" from BBC Radio 3. In 2022 she was appointed Recorder Professor Specialising in Contmporary Music at the Royal College of Music in London.
