WWU Director of Voice Studies Dr. Richard L. Hodges and Music Department Chair Tim Fitzpatrick presents an afternoon of African American Art Song entitled "Dreams and More. "These works will reflect on dreams and other concepts about life and death based on the poetry of Langston Hughes, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and More. The music of these composers will help transport us as we visually are engaged by the beauty of the Sculpture Woods.
About Richard L. Hodges
Richard L. Hodges, a "powerhouse baritone" as described by The Wall Street Journal, is an electric presence on stage. He is an artist of the time, from title roles in Gianni Schicchi, Hamlet, Porgy and Bess, Il Tabarro, and stand-out performance of Preacher in The Industry's Sweet Land. His collaborative engagements have led to composition, stage direction, creative direction, and writing.

Timothy Fitzpatrick is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the WWU, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in choral conducting, repertoire, and pedagogy, and conducts the Concert Choir, Western Voices, and Chamber Vocal Jazz.
A versatile musician with many areas of expertise, Prof. Fitzpatrick has pursued a career that is supported by outstanding academic achievements and diverse musical endeavors including piano performance and pedagogy, harpsichord studies, collaborative solo and choral accompanying, church music ministry, and popular music arranging and recording. He has studied private voice, and performed opera, classical, jazz, Broadway, and popular idioms on the concert stage.
