Oregon Bach Festival: Hinkle Distinguished Lecture & Community Sing with Eric Whitacre

Join Grammy-winning composer and conductor Eric Whitacre for an unforgettable event, as members of the Oregon choral community come together for an afternoon of voice and fellowship. 

The gathering begins at 2:30pm when Whitacre delivers the annual Oregon Bach Festival Hinkle Distinguished Lecture. Through the marriage of singing and technology, Whitacre explores the fundamental building blocks of leadership, community, and our shared humanity. At 3:45pm, Whitacre leads a choir of community members through several of his most engaging musical works, including Sleep, Sing Gently, and "Home" from The Sacred Veil.

The Lecture and Community Sing are both free. Participation in the Community Sing requires registration; click 'Get Tickets' above for more info.

About Eric Whitacre, lecturer & conductor

Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor, Eric Whitacre, is among today's most popular musicians. His works are programmed worldwide and his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united 100,000 singers from more than 145 countries. Born in Nevada in 1970, Eric is a graduate of The Juilliard School. He is currently Visiting Composer at Pembroke College, Cambridge University (UK) and is an Ambassador for the Royal College of Music (London). He recently completed two terms as Artist in Residence with the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Eric is proud to be a Yamaha Artist.

His compositions have been widely recorded and his debut album as a conductor on Universal, Light and Gold, went straight to the top of the charts, earning him a Grammy.
