This annual summer music festival features musicians from all over the Puget Sound area who come together to perform the challenging and evocative works of Gustav Mahler. These pieces often call for large numbers of musicians, so aren't performed as frequently as other major works. The Northwest Mahler Festival, led by Music Director Tigran Arakelyan, this year will feature Mahler's Symphony No. 7, sometimes referred to as the "Song of the Night." The festival orchestra will also perform Mars and Venus from Gustav Holst's The Planets.

About Northwest Mahler Festival

The Northwest Mahler Festival was founded in 1995 by three Seattle area musicians – Dan Weiss, Robin Miller, and David McBride – to provide the opportunity for local area musicians, including serious avocational musicians, professionals, and talented students, to experience the large-scale Romantic works not generally accessible to smaller local orchestras, and to bring this music to the public. This includes works for orchestra alone as well as for orchestra and chorus.
