Cappella Romana: Passion & Resurrection
$33-$53 ($5 Arts for All)
- In Medio
- 45th Parallel Universe
- John Eisemann, conductor
Cappella Romana and In Medio (John Eisemann, director) form a choir of over 40 singers to perform Ivan Moody's powerful oratorio Passion and Resurrection. English cantillation of Holy Week's drama mixes with soul-stirring Orthodox hymns sung in Slavonic, Greek, and English, accompanied by string quartet and bells played by our friends in 45th Parallel Universe.
These concerts are given in memory of Fr. Ivan, our beloved and much-missed friend who wrote his longest choral work, The Akáthistos Hymn, for Cappella Romana.
This program will receive 3 in-person performances:
- Friday, May 16, 7:30pm at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle
- Saturday, May 17, 7:30pm at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland
- Sunday, May 18, 12pm at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Lake Oswego
Digital On Demand Premieres open one week after each series.
About In Medio
In Medio is a choral community of accomplished young-adult singers who make brave, relevant, and thoughtful music for everyone.
The name of the choir, In Medio, is Latin for "in the midst." It is a reference to the process of creating something together and honors the importance of change. The best times in life are often when we are in the middle of something—be it a long-term project, a vacation, surrounded by friends and family, or in the middle of a choir. It's the moment in which you forget the beginning and are not far enough along to see the end.
