The internationally lauded American pianist Michael Stephen Brown, hailed by The New York Times as "one of the leading figures in the current renaissance of performer-composers," will return to the 41st season of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival for one concert on August 1, 2024, at Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church.
Highlight of this concert will be the world premiere of Mr. Brown's own composition Lotus-Eaters for Flute, Cello, Piano, and Percussion. This piece is commissioned by the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. Besides the world premiere work, Mr. Brown will also perform Mozart's Piano Quartet in E-flat major, K. 493. Entitled "Mozart Reflections," the program will also include Mozart's Quartet in A major, K. 298 and And Legions Will Rise by Kevin Puts.
About Michael Stephen Brown, piano
Praised for his "fearless performances," by The New York Times and "exceptionally beautiful" compositions by The Washington Post, pianist and composer Michael Stephen Brown is a frequent performer of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center series. Mr. Brown, whose artistry is shaped by his creative voice as a pianist and composer, will be featured in the Society 2023-24 season with a solo recital at Alice Tully Hall. A native New Yorker, he lives there with his two 19th-century Steinway Ds, Octavia and Daria.

About Masumi Per Rostad, viola
Praised for his "burnished sound" (The New York Times) and described as an "electrifying, poetic, and sensitive musician," the Grammy Award-winning, Japanese-Norwegian violist Masumi Per Rostad hails from the gritty East Village of 1980s New York. He was raised in an artist loft converted from a garage with a 1957 Chevy Belair as the remnant centerpiece in their living room. Masumi began his studies at the nearby Third Street Music School Settlement at age three and has gone on to become one of the most in demand soloists, chamber musicians, andd teachers. In addition to maintaining an active performance schedule, he serves on the faculty of the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
