The choirs of St. Luke’s Memorial and St. John’s, Gig Harbor, with organist Michael Plagerman, will sing Choral Evensong for the Feast of the Ascension. Following Evensong, Michael Plagerman will perform short organ recital.

About Wyatt Smith, organ

American concert organist Wyatt Smith, a native of Rapid City, South Dakota, performs with "nuance, polish, and personality" (Michael Barone, APM Pipedreams). He maintains an active concert schedule, performing throughout the United States and Europe, and his performances have been heard on American Public Media's Pipedreams.

Smith received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance from the University of Washington; his Master of Music degree from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, and Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Dakota. His primary mentors include Dr. Carole Terry, Dr. Martin Jean, and Dr. Larry Schou. Wyatt has served as the Affiliate Artist in Organ & Harpsichord at the University of Puget Sound since 2018. He is also on the faculty of the Epiphany Music Academy, which he founded in 2019. He enjoys teaching students of all ages.

About Michael Plagerman, organ

Michael Plagerman is the Director of Sacred Music at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Seattle, where he oversees concert planning, shares organ duties, and directs the parish choir as well as the cantorei, a professional vocal ensemble that sings choral masses and concerts throughout the year. Michael holds degrees from Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Notre Dame, and Cornell University where he studied with Paul Tegels, Craig Cramer, Douglas Reid, Nathan Laube, Christophe Mantoux, and Annette Richards. In the completion of these degrees, he has received numerous scholarships and awards including the James D. Holloway Scholar, the David P. Dahl Organ Scholar, and the Craig Cramer Award in Organ Performance. He is currently finishing his doctoral dissertation through Cornell University, researching late 19th-century American organ performance in Boston.
