SSO Chamber Music: Chick Corea to Wynton Marsalis
$45
Mario Herrerías — Niebla y cemento
Seth Krimsky — Out of the Woodwork
Wynton Marsalis — String Quartet No. 1 "At the Octoroon Balls"
Seth Krimsky brings friends to perform Chick Corea's dreamy early trio, drawn from his piano jazz improvisations. The vibe continues with Herrerías' intricate and urgent dance rhythms, and a new work by Seth Krimsky himself. At "The Octoroon Balls," Wynton Marsalis was inspired by creole musical traditions, translated for string quartet: fiddle reels, hoe downs, jug stomps and marching bands.
