Gustav Mahler — Symphony No. 1 in D major "Titan"
Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra kick off the season with Gustav Mahler’s exultant Symphony No. 1. Unfolding like the coming of spring, the Symphony moves from a popular children's song to a mighty orchestral thunderstorm before exploding in Technicolor radiance. The ASO welcomes cellist Edgar Moreau, who made his recent Atlanta debut "with dazzling accuracy and insouciant wit" (ArtsATL). Moreau joins the Orchestra for one of the great masterpieces for the cello, Robert Schumann's enigmatic Cello Concerto.
Performances on Sept. 19 & 21.
