Join us on Thursday, September 26th, at 7pm as the Symphonic Wind Ensemble presents their season-opening concert, "Homage," in Kopleff Recital Hall. The concert features a diverse repertoire paying tribute to renowned composers and their timeless works.
The program begins with Richard Wagner's powerful Huldigungsmarsch, arranged by Schaefer, setting a grand and celebratory tone. Kelijah Dunton's Stillwater, conducted by Meeka Sivilay, offers serene and reflective melodies. Arnold Schoenberg's intricate Theme and Variations, Op. 43a showcases the ensemble's versatility. Rachel Breaux conducts Amanda Aldridge's delightful On Parade, adding lively and spirited rhythms. The evening concludes with Martin Ellerby's evocative Paris Sketches, conducted by guest conductor Sami Ruusuvouri, painting a vivid musical portrait of the City of Light.
