Marin Alsop leads an inventive concert bookended by Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3 and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite—two works, operatic in their scope, that evoke heroic feats of rescue. Renaud Capuçon premieres a new work for violin and orchestra by Nico Muhly. Beethoven's heir, Brahms, rounds out the program with his Variations on a Theme by Haydn.
