Stravinsky's Violin Concerto comes to life in the hands of Patricia Kopatchinskaja—whom The New York Times calls "a player of rare expressive energy." Brahms spent over 20 years writing his First Symphony; by turns somber, stormy, hushed, and heroic, the work established the Romantic's unequivocal command of the genre. Jakub Hrůša opens the program by conducting Jessie Montgomery's anticipated Project 19 premiere.

Runs Apr. 9-11.

About Patricia Kopatchinskaja, violin

With a combination of depth, brilliance, and humor, Patricia Kopatchinskaja delves into music's core, exploring its meaning in the here and now, which could involve an unconventional performance of a traditional violin classic or a theatrical project where she serves as an experimental performance dramaturge. Kopatchinskaja is celebrated for her boundary-crossing approach. Her primary focus lies in 20th and 21st-century music, and she has collaborated with Luca Francesconi, Michael Hersch, György Kurtág, Márton Illés, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Kopatchinskaja conducts staged concerts on both sides of the Atlantic, and collaborates with leading orchestras, conductors, and festivals worldwide.
