Since making her professional debut at the Phillips in 2002, Sara Daneshpour has continued her impressive career performing throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia with a wide-ranging repertoire from Bach to Boulez. Her growing reputation for intriguing and colorful solo programming highlights her ability to draw attention to subtle facets with crystalline detail, a trait exemplified by her program at the Phillips. She begins with the first book of Préludes by Claude Debussy, which includes highlights such as "Des pas sur la neige" ("Footsteps in the Snow"), "La fille aux cheveux de lin" ("The Girl with the Flaxen Hair"), and "La cathédrale engloutie" ("The Engulfed Cathedral"). She continues with the Sonata in F-sharp minor by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and concludes with Robert Schumann's Symphonic Études, Op. 13.

About Sara Daneshpour, piano

Pianist Sara Daneshpour has worldwide audiences and critics spellbound with her "blazing technique, power, expressivity, imagination and stage presence" (The New York Concert Review), establishing herself as one of the most refined artists of her generation.

In orchestra concerts and solo recitals, Sara Daneshpour stuns audiences with an unusually wide repertoire ranging from Bach to Boulez, with her dazzling technique and an exceptional level of artistic depth and sincerity. Her performances, often described as "a powerhouse account, producing enough tone for two pianists in the process" (Baltimore Sun), are critically acclaimed as lavishing "colour on oft-neglected lines, illuminating subtle beauties" (The New York Concert Review). Her current solo programme of Etudes by Chopin and Ligeti combines two of the most intriguing and most demanding works ever written for the piano.
