The Founders Trip of the the Davenport Chamber Players presents an evening of music and conversation exploring the African American spirit in music, song and dance. Performed by world-renowned artists Kenneth Law (cello), Spelman's own Jacqueline Pickett (bass) and concert violinist and DCP artistic director Ayango Yarbo-Davenport. The program works include: Zoltan Kodaly and Gaspar Cassado and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

The Davenport Chamber Players (DCP) is an artist collective formed by musicians, visual & scenic artists, composers, and educators. They are a multi-cultural collective that focuses on celebrating the diverse heritage of its members. Signature innovative programming includes societally and educationally progressive interdisciplinary productions and collaborations. The ensemble’s first performance took place February 2024 at THE MET as part of the The MET Live Arts production “Handel: Made in America” featuring Terrance McKnight, author and host for WQXR.

Born and raised in Munich, Germany, violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport was born into the musical family of American soprano Africa Yarbo-Davenport and the late Austrian conductor Hans Peter Jillich. She performs regularly in notable venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Royal Festival Hall London, Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, Mozarteum Saal Salzburg and can be heard on international TV and Radio stations like Red+, BBC, FOX26, WXXI, PBS, and NPR.

About Jacqueline Pickett, double bass
The American double-bassist, Jacqueline Pickett, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree with high honors from West Virginia University; her Master of Music degree from Yale School of Music; and her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her musical abilities cover a wide range of performance genres from album credits with Hip-Hop Artist Monica (The Makings of Me, 2006) to Classical recordings with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra (Conversations in Silence, 2008).
