Maxim Vengerov—one of the greatest living violinists—performs Mozart's complete works for violin and orchestra across two consecutive concerts with Orpheus. On this second night, they perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 2; the hugely popular No. 5, known as the "Turkish"; and the Sinfonia concertante in E-flat major. The latter is widely described as the pinnacle of Mozart's violin concertos, bridging the concerto form with the symphonic, and featuring both violin and viola as soloists. In the viola role is Lawrence Power, the 2020 Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year.
