Lou Harrison – Varied Trio for Violin, Piano, and Percussion
Karlheinz Stockhausen – Tierkreis (Zodiac)
Anton Webern – 4 Pieces, Op. 7 (arranged for marimba and piano by Matthew Kocmieroski)

This concert includes works from (sometimes) “notorious” composers, including Lou Harrison’s charming Varied Trio for violin, piano, and percussion; Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Tierkreis, consisting of 12 pieces after the signs of the Zodiac originally written for 12 music boxes; and Anton Webern’s 4 Pieces Op. 7, a striking and evocative post-romantic work written before this composer turned to the 12-tone serial method pioneered by Schoenberg. Originally composed for violin and piano, this arrangement for marimba and piano is by Matthew Kocmieroski. This concert is sponsored in part by the City of Auburn and the Garneau-Nicon Foundation.
