So Splendidly Strauss: Saratoga Orchestra holiday ball

Holiday Festivities abound at the first annual "So Splendidly Strauss" Holiday Ball, featuring the musicians of Whidbey's Saratoga Orchestra. Step back in time to Old Vienna while dancing to the music of the Waltz King, Johann Strauss.

Don your festive apparel. Black-tie is encouraged, but optional. Hors d’oeuvres served and a no-host bar will be offering your favorite libations.

Special guest artist Lisa Berritella (soprano) will be gracing the audience with light operatic and popular songs true to the Viennese tradition.

Whidbey's favorite ballroom dance instructors Walter and Celina Dill will be on hand for a waltz lesson brush-up and demonstration.

Jim Carroll of j shu images will be on hand to take photos in a specially designed photo booth, and there will be more surprises, door prizes, and PUPPETS!

About Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island

Whidbey's Saratoga Orchestra formed as an expansion of the Saratoga Chamber Players founded by Whidbey Island's legendary violinist and arts supporter, Michael Nutt. Previously known as Saratoga Chamber Orchestra, the name is derived from the beautiful Saratoga Passage that flanks the east side of Whidbey Island and the stand of trees known as the Saratoga Woods. In 2007, Legh W. Burns, Music Director Emeritus, began a regular concert series performing throughout the island for Whidbey audiences. Dr. Anna Edwards has led the orchestra as Music Director since 2015, and has brought national attention to the ensemble for its innovative programming championing women, BIPOC and underrepresented composers and hosting the highly esteemed Pacific Northwest Conducting Institute held each summer.
