Vaughan Williams wrote his beautiful Fifth Symphony as a reminded of the beauty that is possible in this world, against the ravages of World War II. One is able to taste, feel and envision the gorgeous and tranquil British landscape of Vaughan Williams' beloved homeland. Also on the concerto is virtuoso clarinet soloist Sean Osborn, who, having toured much of the world, is back home in Seattle to perform Gerald Finzi's Clarinet Concerto with the Northwest Symphony Orchestra.
