The School of Music and the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS) co-curate the Music of Today series featuring groundbreaking new works and modern classics performed by renowned visiting artists. In this concert, newly appointed faculty pianist Cristina Valdes performs Ein Kinderspiel, by Helmut Lachenmann, and Quattro Illustrazioni, by Giacinto Scelsi. New Jazz Studies appointee Greg Sinibaldi, together with faculty colleagues Richard Karpen and Luke Bergman, leads an orchestral ensemble of 20-plus musicians from across UW Music programs through a guided improvisation.
