The Vashon Island Chorale will present two masterworks composed in the 1890s. The Requiem by Frenchman Gabriel Fauré, composed in part as a memorial for his parents, has maintained a central place in choral repertoire since its composition. Less well known but no less beautiful is the boisterous From the Bavarian Highlands by the Englishman Edward Elgar.
