Back by popular demand, SCCS returns to Edgewood Garden to experience this glorious location in the height of summer! If you joined us last time we were here, a special treat is that the concert will be in the beautiful main house this time!
With the stunning backdrop of Edgewood Garden, Classical Guitarist Elizabeth Brown joins SCCS Artistic Director Svend Rønning to perform works for violin and guitar by Italian greats such as Corelli, Cavalli and Paganini for our annual fundraiser.
Two of the most popular stringed instruments, the guitar and the violin, don't often play together, but the great virtuoso Niccolo Paganini was a virtuoso on both. In his later years, Paganini wrote a great deal of music for this instrumentation, accompanying his own students on the guitar. His music forms the centerpiece around this program.
Italian music (and Latin music generally) serves as the inspiration for both the music and the cuisine for this year's annual fundraiser. Come and sample favorite Italian fare, Italian wine, with perhaps just a splash of Spanish and Latin American music, food and wine as well!
