We kick off our 19th season back in our artistic home – the newly-renovated, state-of-the-art Auburn Performing Arts Center. Spooky sounds of Mussorgsky’s Night on Bare Mountain and Saint-Saëns’ Dance Macabre will set the stage for an afternoon of symphonic masterworks.
ASO concertmaster Brittany Boulding brings Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Allegro to life with her expressive playing, and Bizet’s J’eaux d’Enfants is a playful series of short ensemble works.
The program closes with Brubeck’s famous Take Five with its unusual time signature, along with Strange Meadowlark and Blue Rondo a la Turk. This marvelous arrangement features the original quintet of piano, saxophone, string bass, and drums, joined by the full orchestra.
